Qabalan, Bukhari tackle general situation

Head of the Islamic Supreme Shiite Council, Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan, received on Wednesday at the Council's headquarters Saudi Minister Plenipotentiary Charge d'Affaires Walid al-Bukhari, who came on a congratulatory visit on the occasion of Eid El Fitr.

The visit was a chance to dwell on the general situation in Lebanon and the broader region.

On the other hand, Sheikh Qabalan met at his residence with Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, who well-wished him on Eid El-Fitr.

Talks between the pair reportedly touched on most recent developments on the local arena.

Qabalan underlined that the Lebanese army is the shield of Lebanon and the guarantee of preserving its security, stability and sovereignty.

The senior cleric urged all citizens to rally around their army, which has proven to be "a haven for all the Lebanese."

Qabalan called on the Lebanese government to support the army and the Lebanese security forces by securing all piers of support in terms of equipment and armament.
