President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, on Friday called for dealing with the current economic situation objectively and realistically, warning against the negative repercussions of circulating false economic news in the press and social networking websites.
President Aoun's fresh remarks came during his meeting at the Baabda palace with a delegation comprising Head of the Economic Organizations Mohammed Choucair, President of the Association of Banks in Lebanon Dr. Joseph Torbey, and President of the Mediterranean Businessmen Union, Jacques Sarraf.
Talks reportedly dwelt on the current financial and socio-economic situation in the country, and the path of new government formation.
"Improvement of infrastructure, roads and other construction projects will contribute to the advancement of economy in the country, in parallel with reforms intended to be enacted by the government, in line with the recommendations of the Cedar Conference held recently in Paris, Aoun maintained.
The President urged all to cooperate in following up on the work of the state since as he said, responsibility is a collective one rather than individual.
"Addressing the current economic situation will be one of the top priorities of the new government, especially after the completion of the national economic plan, whose outcome shall be reflected on the various socio-economic and daily living conditions," President Aoun told the delegation.
