TEHRAN, Ali Akbar Velayati, Advisor of the Iranian leader Ali Akbar Velayati, will head to Moscow on Wednesday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Velayati holds two letters from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rowhani to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Following the strategic error of US President Donald Trump and the departure of the United States from the nuclear deal, the Islamic Republic of Iran has decided to send a number of special envoys carrying letters from senior officials in the Islamic Republic to explain Iranian views and positions on this arrogant behavior and contrary to international conventions," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasimi said in a press statement.
"My visit to Moscow falls within this framework and after that I will visit Beijing, heading a delegation of officials from the Foreign Ministry," he said.
