The Future parliamentary bloc met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri at the Center House. At the end of the meeting, the bloc issued this communique, read by MP Tarek Merehbi.
First, the bloc considered that it has become certain for all that the formation of the government is a national necessity required by the economic challenges and regional developments, especially the developments related to the return of displaced Syrians and the need to make this step succeed.
The bloc renews its support for the efforts of Prime minister-designate Saad Hariri and the optimism he expresses, and stresses that the coordination and consultation between the President of the Republic and the prime minister-designate is the main leverage of the government formation process and that the efforts of political parties to round off the angles and make concessions will give a boost to this leverage and put an end to the deadlock cycle regarding the distribution of ministries.
Second, the bloc praised the speed with which Prime Minister Saad Hariri communicated with Russian leaders regarding the return of displaced Syrians from Lebanon to Syria and saw in his efforts a sincere expression of the position that the inevitable destiny of the displaced is their return to Syria, a return that must take place with international assurances that guarantee the safety and dignity of the displaced.
Third, the bloc discussed the voices calling for the abolition of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, in charge of investigating the assassination of Prime Minister Rafic Hariri and his companions. It considered that this demand constitutes conclusive proof that the STL has made great progress towards the truth and the realization of justice in this great national affair.
The bloc reminded that the STL is the result of one of the resolutions of international legality to which Lebanon is fully committed, warning that casting doubt once again on the STL and its action opens the door to the return of the division period and the discord that accompanied it, a period that the Lebanese put behind them thanks to the wisdom of Prime minister Saad Hariri and his brave initiative to preserve the stability and security of Lebanon.
Fourth, the bloc hailed the successful operation by the military forces in the city of Hamoudiya-Brital, which led to the capture of large quantities of contraband. This operation is part of the government's decision, executed by the security and military forces, to eliminate one of the most important social ills that harm society, and the drug networks that meet up with terrorist networks and the illegal arms trade in all regions without exception.
Fifth, the bloc discussed the Knesset's approval of the "Jewish Nation State" law and saw in it new evidence of the racism practiced by the Israeli occupation of Palestine and another blow to any possible initiative to establish a just peace based on the right of the Palestinian people to return to their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. The bloc called on the UN and the international community to assume its responsibility and put an end to Israeli violations of all international resolutions, humanitarian law and the Charter of Human Rights.
