Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Rai, officiated on Sunday over a mass service in Diman in which he held responsible all those who impede the prosperity and development of Lebanon.
"What prevents Lebanon from following the path of development, growth and prosperity is the personal calculations and narrow interests of the Lebanese officials," Rahi said.
The Patriarch criticized the political class for battling over the ownership of specific ministerial portfolios.
"What is the justification for the failure to form a new government? Isn't because of sharing interests and competing over ministerial portfolios at the expense of the public interests?" Rahi wondered.
Finally, Rahi appealed to officials in the Lebanese Republic to lift the Lebanese people from their social and economic sufferings.
