Charity societies’ role in serving society stressed

Manama, Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has held a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Northern Governorate's Municipal Council, Ahmed Al-Kooheji, and a number of heads and representatives of charity societies in the villages of Saar, Maqaba, Al-Shakhoora, Al-Qadam, Abu Saiba and Al-Hajar.

The meeting reviewed areas of cooperation with the Labour and Social Development Ministry, and the facilities provided for charity societies in order to be able to play their role across the Northern Governorate's villages.

The charity societies' demands regarding the regulation of charity and voluntary work were also discussed.

The minister stressed the importance of community partnership in facilitating the work of charity societies in order to enhance their services, especially regarding their support for needy families, within the framework of the social solidarity principle adopted by the government, noting that supporting charity societies and civil society organisations are among the basic pillars of the Reform Project spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Those present lauded the level of the existing cooperation between the Labour Ministry and NGOS and municipal councils, stressing their keenness to achieve the noble humanitarian goals and the role played by charity societies in serving the Bahraini society.
