Berri, Swiss President discuss bilateral ties, refugee return

House Speaker, Nabih Berri, held talks at his Ain-el-Tineh residence on Monday, with President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, over the bilateral relations between Lebanon and Switzerland, in addition to the latest developments and the issue of Syrian refugees.

Speaking to reporters following the meeting, Berri said the held "serious" talks over the Lebanese-Swiss ties.

"We also expressed our position from the displaced Syrians' issue, and the relationship with our brothers in Syria, and which must be normal," he added.

"We must coordinate with the Syrian government to secure the displaced return to their country," he underlined.

Berri also reiterated keenness on forming the new government in the nearest time possible, saying that further delay is no more acceptable.

Berri had earlier met with Rwandan Foreign Minister, Louise Mushikiwabo, with whom he discussed the bilateral relations.

He also received Danish Ambassador to Lebanon, Svend Waever, who came on a farewell visit upon the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.

Berri later welcomed Cuban Ambassador to Lebanon, Miguel Porto Parga, who extended to his host an official invitation to visit Cuba.
