Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Beirut Elias Audeh, on Tuesday received the new Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Hakan Cakil, who came on a protocol visit.
On emerging, Ambassador Cakil indicated that the visit comes as part of his tour among spiritual leaders in Lebanon, who are an "essential part of the Lebanese society," as he said.
The Turkish Ambassador also pledged to work during his assumption of his diplomatic duties in Lebanon to bolster the relation with the Orthodox community in Lebanon.
"We consider the Orthodox Church to be a bridge of friendship between Turkey and Lebanon, and I will work hard to develop this relationship," he corroborated.
