Khatib assumes presidency of Arab environmental council

Caretaker Minister of Environment, Tareq Khatib, on Thursday assumed the presidency of this year's session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, in Cairo.

In his word, Khatib dwelt on an array of Arab affairs, in addition to the obstacles facing Lebanon, especially as to the environmental, social and economic reverberations of the Syrian refugee crisis.

Khatib also shed light on Lebanon's measures and position from a major oil spill in the Mediterranean caused by Israel's bombing of the Jiyyeh power station during the 2006 War.
