Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon, Hubert Cooreman, held a reception ceremony in Yarzeh on the occasion of the visit of the Belgian Minister of Culture, Alda Greoli, to Lebanon and the launch of the Francophone Book Fair in Beirut.
The ceremony was attended by MP Roula Tabash, Ambassadors of France, Egypt, Romania, Tunisia and the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg, Jacques Rufayel.
Following the Lebanese and Belgian national anthems, Ambassador Cooreman delivered a welcoming speech in which he praised "the importance of the occasion and the visit of the Belgian Minister of Culture, especially as it works to strengthen Francophone culture towards Lebanon."
In turn, Greoli shed light on the importance of her visit to Lebanon, especially "in light of the cooperation between the Belgian federal government and Lebanon in a number of projects."
The Minister likened the delay of forming the government in Lebanon to the situation in her country.
"I hope that Lebanon will be able to reach good and peaceful agreements for its problems because we live in a country that is culturally and nationally diverse just like yours."
She also called for "encouraging and developing cultural cooperation and artistic production between Lebanon and Belgium."
Finally, Greoli pointed to her meeting with the Social Affairs Minister where "there was a talk of joint cooperation between the two countries to meet the social needs, especially for the elderly in Lebanon."
