Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, met at his Ain-el-Tineh residence on Thursday, with Chairman of the British Parliamentary Committee for Friendship with Lebanon, MP John Hayes, accompanied by a delegation from the House of Commons and British Lords, in the presence of MP Yassine Jaber.
Talks reportedly touched on the current situation in Lebanon and the broader region, in addition to the bilateral parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to reporters following the meeting, MP Jaber indicated that "we are working upon the directions of Speaker Berri to enhance parliamentary diplomacy."
"Lebanon was able to clinch security and get rid of terrorism. Work is focused now on the economic level," he said.
"Lebanon's Ambassador in London is currently preparing for an economic conference to be held next month in the British capital," he revealed.
Separately, Berri met with Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Raed Khoury, over an array of economic affairs, in addition to the private generators' issue.
"Speaker Berri supports the decision taken by the Ministry of Economy to organize this sector," Khoury said after the talks.
