Cairo, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed AbulGheit hailed the speech of Moroccan monarch King Mohammed VI two days ago in which he called to work out a joint political mechanism for direct dialogue between Morocco and Algeria to overcome differences between the two brotherly Arab countries and settle pending bilateral issues.
In a statement issued today, the Arab League Secretary General stressed that the important call will open up a new horizon in bilateral relations and improve the climate for the Arab Magreb Union (AMU). He added the initiative will also contribute to bolstering cooperation in North Africa, the coast region and the desert so as to confront the dangers of terrorism and organised crimes.
The Arab League Secretary General underlined the role of the two Arab countries within the framework of the pan-Arab work system which requires dealing positively with approaches aimed at uniting visions on controversial issues.
