Catholic Patriarchs conclude 52nd meeting, hail LF-Marada reconciliation

The Council of the Catholic Archbishops and Patriarchs has concluded its 52nd meetings' session, held in Bkirki under the chairmanship of Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rahi.

The opening session was attended by the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Joseph Spiteri, who conveyed to conferees Pope Francis's greetings and well-wishes.

Furthermore, the convening prelates issued a concluding statement, in which they heaped praise on the fresh reconciliation held between the Lebanese Forces and Marada Movement under the auspices of Patriarch Rahi, expressing hope that other sides will reach a similar agreement.

Moreover, conferees considered that the lack of mutual trust and internal unity, in addition to the narrow considerations and foreign interventions, were the reason behind the failure to form the new government.
