House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Monday received at his Ain Tineh residence Deputy Wael Abu Faour and former Minister Ghazi al-Aridi, with whom he discussed the current situation and government formation issue.
Speaker Berri later met with a delegation from the General Security, Directorate General, who extended to him an invitation to attend "Terminating Terror in the Middle East and its Impact on the African Continent" Conference, which will be held on November 26-27 in Beirut.
This afternoon, Berri welcomed head of the Chamber of commerce, agriculture and industry in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, Mohammad Choucair, with talks reportedly touching on the current economic situation.
On the other hand, Berri received cables of congratulations on Independence Day, notably from Kuwaiti Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Yemeni House Speaker Yahya Al-Rahi and Hamas Movement Politburo Bureau head Ismail Hanieh.
Berri contacted by phone Grand Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, head of the Islamic Supreme Shiite Council, Sheikh Abdel Amir Qabalan, and Druze Sheikh Akl Naim Hassan, well-wishing them on the holy Prophet's birthday.
