Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi on Monday opened up his apostolic visit to the Vatican, where he visited the Congregation for the Oriental Churches in the company of a delegation of Maronite bishops.
Patriarch Rahi held a meeting with the Prefect of the Congregation, Leonardo Cardinal Sandri, attended by Congregation senior metropolitans.
In his delivered word, Patriarch Rahi hoped that Lebanon, the nation of message, would surpass its crises and remain resilient in front of challenges ahead.
Rahi also hoped the new government would see the light soon.
The patriarch concluded by thanking the Congregation for its endeavors towards the Oriental Churches. He also handed Cardinal Sandri a report on the identity of the Maronite Church and its work, bearing on the relationship of the Maronites in Lebanon with the challenges facing the Church nowadays in Lebanon and the Middle East.
Cardinal Sandri, for his part, highly appreciated the work undertaken by the Maronite church in Lebanon, world perishes and the Universal church.
