House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Wednesday received a congratulatory cable from U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing warmest wishes for Lebanon and the Lebanese people on the 75th anniversary of Lebanon's Independence Day.
In his message, Trump highly appreciated the partnership between the US and Lebanon and the progress that the Lebanese government achieved last year, which includes the successful legislative elections and their struggle against terrorism.
Trump said in his cable the US supports a prosperous, safe and peaceful Lebanon.
The US President added that his country looks forward to working with a new Lebanese government which is committed to endorsing Lebanon's sovereignty and independence.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri received congratulatory cables on Independence Day and the holy Prophet Mohammed's birthday, namely from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and the Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council, Dr. Ali Larijani.
This afternoon, Berri met with the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Mahamudu Bawumia, accompanied by a civilian and military delegation.
Talks reportedly touched on means of strengthening bilateral relations and the role of Ghana's contingent operating within UNIFIL in south Lebanon.
