President of the Belgian House of Representatives, Siegfried Bracke, on Wednesday visited the city of Baalbek, in the company of the Belgian Ambassador to Lebanon, and an accompanying parliamentary delegation.
Caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Ghazi Zoueiter, welcomed the delegation at the municipality of Baalbek, representing Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, in the presence of several other dignitaries in the region.
The Belgian official said in a speech that he pinned great hope on dialogue and the positive attitude among the different Lebanese factions, especially in the context of the prevailing political turmoil in the country.
He also thanked Lebanese officials for their warm welcome during his three-day visit to Lebanon.
The senior Belgian official finally confirmed the close cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union, which is still standing alongside Lebanon and executes several projects that support local stability and municipalities "so that they succeed in assuming their responsibilities in the current situation."
