The Technical Committee began Sunday morning its deliberations over ways of activating cooperation between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia at the Intercontinental Hotel in the Saudi capital, Al-Riyadh.
The meetings, which began with a speech by Saudi Assistant Finance Minister Abdul Aziz Al-Rashed, stressed the need to activate Lebanese-Saudi bilateral relations.
Head of the Lebanese delegation and Director General of the Ministry of Economy, Aliya Abbas, delivered a word in which she emphasized that "the convening of this committee reflects the will of both parties and their determination to pursue efforts to develop the economic, trade and investment relations between them."
For his part, Lebanese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Fawzi Kabara, commended the first step towards institutionalizing Lebanese-Saudi relations through discussing the draft ministerial agreements between the two sides.
He expressed "Prime Minister Saad Hariri's keenness in sending a homogeneous Lebanese team with high powers to take the necessary decisions for the success of these negotiations...and move forward in the direction of signing mutual agreements in the near future."
The Technical Committee teams then began their bilateral inter-ministerial sessions to discuss the work agenda, draft cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding.
Committee members will pursue their work tomorrow and prepare the minutes' draft to be submitted to the Council of Ministers' Presidency.
