Baghdad, Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman confirmed that talks between Baghdad and Erbil have stopped, regarding outstanding problems and the lack of solutions to them.
Othman said in a special statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “The Kurdistan region is awaiting Baghdad’s response to the Kurdish demands, and the points discussed during the visits of the Kurdish delegations to Baghdad during the previous period, in order to form a new delegation to start the talks and conclude agreements, but Baghdad until now did not respond because of the difficult economic conditions the country is going through.
He explained that: “It is possible to start holding new talks between Baghdad and Erbil after Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi went to Saudi Arabia and the United States to obtain financial support from them and from the International Monetary Fund, given that Baghdad currently cannot provide anything to the Kurdistan region because of the money distress that Iraq is going through. ”
