Saudi Arabia Announces The Start Of Talks On Investments In Artawi Iraqi Gas Field Project

Baghdad, Saudi Arabia announced the start of talks about potential investments in Artawi gas field project in Basra, southern Iraq, worth $ 2.2 billion, to redirect large quantities of wasted natural gas towards power generation.

A spokesman for the Saudi Energy Minister said in a press statement: “Riyadh is also studying joint investments in solar energy inside Iraq and exports of electricity to supply Iraq.”

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi ambassador to Riyadh, Qahtan Al-Janabi announced earlier that the coming days will witness the visit of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that Arar port will open soon and there is a desire from Iraq to open more than one border crossing with Saudi Arabia.
