Baghdad, The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised its citizens residing in several countries, with a majority of Muslims, or those traveling to them, to take additional security precautions in light of the escalation of anger over cartoons that insult the Prophet Mohammed, may God bless him and grant him peace.
The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked today, Tuesday its citizens in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iraq and Mauritania to exercise caution, and called on them to stay away from any protests related to the fees and avoid any public gatherings.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “We recommend that you be very vigilant, especially while traveling and in places visited by tourists or expatriate communities.”
In an indication of the desire of some countries to limit the deterioration of relations, Saudi Arabia condemned the drawings, but refrained from repeating calls made by other Islamic countries to boycott French products or take other measures.
