International Astronautical Federation Announces First Saudi Female Wining Leading Position in the Bureau

The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) announced that the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Mishael Al-Shamimari, has been elected to the position of Vice-President of the IAF, after securing the votes of fourteen international candidates.

As the Saudi representative, Eng. Al-Shamimari, success in winning the votes of the Federation members is attributable to her ambitious vision for the development of the global space sector, as well as to contribute to the development of the International Astronautical Federation strategic directions, in addition to consolidating the Kingdom’s leadership position in the space sector, developing international cooperation.

The IAF’s membership is made up of more than 400 representatives of institutions and organizations around the world. It has close relations with the International Academy of Astronautics and the International Institute of Space Law, and constitutes a platform for experts from space agencies to research, share knowledge and recognize achievements through its prestigious annual awards. The IAF’s activities, publications and global network prepare the future workforce of the space sector, supporting students and young professionals and raising awareness around space sector issues.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah to Head Saudi Arabia’s Delegation to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

Riyadh– Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, tomorrow, will head the Kingdom’s delegation to visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, to discuss cooperation between the two sides in facilitating the arrival of pilgrims to perform their rituals easily, raising the quality of services provided to them, and enriching their religious and cultural experience.

The visit comes as an extension of the historical ties between the two sides, and as a continuation of the efforts made by all government agencies operating within the Umrah system to enhance the quality of services provided via advanced electronic paths, to diversify the options and solutions offered to pilgrims through the electronic platforms, and to allow them to move between the Saudi cities to learn about cultural diversity while they are in the Kingdom.

The visit will witness the signing of several agreements within the framework of facilitating services and raising awareness of the ministry’s efforts to serve the pilgrims and the visitors, in addition to holding several official meetings to discuss arrangements and preparations to serve pilgrims and visitors and to facilitate their arrival to perform the Umrah and visit.

Saudi Stock Exchange Main Index Ends Trading Lower at 11,161.38 Points

Riyadh– Saudi Stock Exchange’s main index ended trading lower here today, losing 299.71 points to close at 11,161.38 points.
The total value of the trading reported was SAR 4.3 billion, while the toll of shares traded was over 128 million, divided into over 300,000 deals.
The Saudi Parallel Market Index (NOMU) ended the day losing 389.20 points, to close at 19,875.93 points, with a valuation of SAR 19.6 million and an overall tally of more than 410,000 stocks traded and divided into as many as 1,811 deals.

UNA organizes next Thursday Media Forum on Role of News Agencies in Supporting Palestinian Cause

Jeddah– The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) will hold a virtual media forum on “The Role of News Agencies in Supporting the Palestinian Cause: Challenges and Opportunities” on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
During the forum, the General Supervisor of the official media in the State of Palestine, Minister Ahmed Assaf, will outline the Palestinian vision and aspirations regarding the role of media in supporting Palestine and emphasizing its rights.
“The forum is based on the resolutions of the UNA General Assembly and Islamic Conferences of Information Ministers, which called upon member states to continue to sensitize public opinion to the Palestinian cause by providing maximum media coverage for all aspects of life in the occupied Palestinian territory,” said UNA Acting Director General Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami.
Al-Yami indicated that the forum will examine the challenges and opportunities in the activities of member news agencies to advocate for the Palestinian cause and strengthen Palestine’s media position.
He added that the forum also seeks to identify the aspirations of the State of Palestine regarding media and its needs in this aspect, come up with a preliminary vision for joint media work in advocating the Palestinian cause, and enhance communication between Palestinian media institutions and their counterparts in OIC countries.

Bahrain Stock Exchange Indices Close Trading Lower

Manama– Bahrain General Index closed trading lower today at 1,900.99 points, losing 27.07 points. The Bahrain Islamic Index closed at 664.30 points, 10.54 points lower than its previous closing rate.
The volume of traded shares amounted to 1,409,000, with a total value of 843,677 Bahraini dinars, through 85 deals.
