Minister of Education meet top students following scholarships announcement

Manama, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, received the top students in the Kingdom of Bahrain from public and private schools, along with their parents, on the occasion of the announcement of the scholarship results. The minister met with the top 30 students from private schools, the top 30 students from public boys' schools, and the top 30 students from public girls' schools. This came following the minister's approval of the results of scholarships and grants to top students for the academic year 2023-2024. Students and parents can view the results on the Education Ministry's website. On this occasion, the minister expressed his appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their ongoing support for the educational system. He said this support has been reflected in government programmes and projects that prioritise education. Dr. Juma congratulated all the top students, exp ressing pride in their achievements that qualified them for the scholarships. He also acknowledged the crucial role of their parents in supporting and enabling their children to excel. During the meeting, the minister reviewed the scholarship results with the students and their parents, which have been allocated based on cumulative grades. He also discussed the students' aspirations and future academic and career plans, wishing them success. The minister noted that the total number of scholarship applicants from public and private school graduates was 1,500 students. Among them, 1,200 students, representing 80% of the applicants, received their first or second choice of scholarship, which is considered a significant achievement in the precise and objective distribution of scholarships. Dr. Juma highlighted that 287 students received scholarships in nursing, the highest number for this major ever provided through the Ministry of Education's scholarships. All applicants have been accommodated. Additionally, 2,400 educational grants were awarded to students with grades ranging from 90% to 94.9%. The Ministry of Education announced on its Instagram account the steps and procedures for students who received scholarships. A female accused of drug trafficking with a kilogram of crystal in her possession arrested in Maysan

The detachments of the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Maysan arrested a female accused of drug trafficking in one of the governorate's areas. A statement by the Ministry of Interior stated: "The accused was found in her possession of a kilogram of crystal narcotic substance, and the investigation papers of the accused were presented to the investigating judge, who decided to detain her in accordance with Article 28 of the Anti-Narcotics Law and send the seized materials in her possession to the competent authority." Foreign Minister highlights Bahrain’s efforts in combating human trafficking

Manama, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, highlighted the Kingdom's distinguished and comprehensive to protect human rights and counter human trafficking, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In a statement marking World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, under the theme "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking," the minister underscored Bahrain's achievements in children's rights and anti-human trafficking efforts. These initiatives have established a comprehensive system for child protection and human dignity, supported by advanced legislation, including Law (4) of 2021 Promulgating the Restorative Justice Law for Children and their Protection from Maltreatment, the Child Law (37) of 2012, and Law (1) of 2008 on Combating Trafficking in Perso ns, in line with the government's programme and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026). Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that this global occasion coincides with Bahrain's success in maintain its top tier ranking in combating human trafficking, as documented by the United States Department of State's Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report. This ranking, he said, serves as an international testament to the successes of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons (NCCTIP), supported by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). Dr. Al Zayani emphasised that Bahrain will continue its achievements in human rights and combating human trafficking through cooperation among legislative, executive, and judicial authorities, media, civil society, and international organisations. This collaboration, aligned with international human rights agreements, focuses on pr otecting vulnerable groups from exploitation, ensuring a secure, just, and dignified future for all, he noted. Ten thousand students and 400 teachers were martyred in the Gaza war and 39 thousand were deprived of high school

Palestinian Minister of Education / Amjad Barham / announced that ten thousand students and 400 teachers were martyred in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7. Amjad Barham said today, Monday, at a conference announcing the results of the first round of high school exams in the West Bank without the Gaza Strip: "39 thousand high school students from the Gaza Strip did not take the high school exams this year due to the ongoing Israeli occupation aggression since October 7." He added: The occupation has confiscated the right to life of ten thousand school and university students in the Gaza Strip, "including 450 high school students, in addition to the martyrdom of 400 teachers," noting that about 50 thousand male and female students from the West Bank, and those in some countries including Turkey, Qatar, Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia, have taken the high school exam. According to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, 20 high school students were martyred in the West Bank durin g the academic year that began last August, and the occupation prevented 55 students from taking the high school exams due to their arrest. According to official and international data, the occupation has completely destroyed 116 schools and 331 schools partially, and targeted more than 150 schools affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which have been transformed into shelters for the displaced, out of 228 schools affiliated with the agency in the Gaza Strip. Security forces in Maysan arrested 5 suspects wanted for various crimes in the city of Amara, the center of the governorate. Maysan Police Command said in a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / received a copy of it that: "Detachments of the Hattin Police Department, in cooperation with the First and Second Maysan Emergency Regiments and the Special Tactical Unit, were able to arrest (5) suspects wanted under various legal articles, including attempted murder, fraud, deception and threats, in various areas of the city center of Amara, indicating that the necessary legal and investigative measures were taken against them." Baghdad Police Arrest 49 Violators of Residence Conditions

Baghdad Rusafa Police Command announced the arrest of 49 violators of residence conditions. The Command stated in a statement: "The Baghdad Rusafa Police detachments represented by (the First Rusafa Emergency Regiment) carried out a large-scale campaign to arrest people violating residence conditions within Al-Krayat area." It added: "The campaign resulted in the arrest of (49) people of different nationalities violating residence conditions to be placed in detention to complete legal procedures against them. The Energy Police Forces of the Ministry of Interior arrested (4) people accused of smuggling oil derivatives and seized two vehicles in Kirkuk and Diwaniyah governorates. The Ministry stated in a statement: "The detachments of the First and Sixth Energy Police Brigades in Kirkuk and Diwaniyah governorates arrested (4) people accused of smuggling oil derivatives and seized two vehicles, one of which was carrying an oil product without official approvals and documents, and the other due to a discrepancy in the information attached to its frame." Foreign Minister receives US Ambassador to Bahrain

Manama, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Steven C. Commander of the Northern and Eastern Tigris Operations visits Kirkuk Governorate building

Kirkuk Governor Rakan Saeed Al-Jubouri, Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee, received the Commander of the Northern and Eastern Tigris Operations, Hamid Ibrahim Al-Sahlani, and his deputy Yilmaz Shahbaz Abbas, and a number of leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces. During the meeting, they discussed joint cooperation and the importance of maintaining the security and stability of Kirkuk and joint cooperation with all security formations.
