Washington, The U.S. Department of State affirmed that the Houthis bear major responsibility for refusing to engage on a ceasefire and to take steps to resolve a nearly seven-year conflict that has brought unimaginable suffering to the Yemeni people.
In a statement issued on Friday following U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking concluded his visits to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, and Jordan, the U.S. Department of State disclosed that the Houthis continue a devastating offensive on Marib that is condemned by the international community and leaves the Houthis increasingly isolated.
During his visits, the U.S. Envoy discussed with a number of the government's senior officials and international partners the humanitarian and economic situations in Yemen in addition to the urgent need for a comprehensive ceasefire in order to provide relief the Yemeni people.
