Cairo, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt Sameh Shoukry, who is currently visiting Ramallah.
Following the meeting, a spokesman of the Egyptian foreign ministry said to reporters here that the meeting tackled ways to revive the peace track and provide support for and assistance to the Palestinian people, quoting Minister Shoukry as confirming his country's continuing efforts to build on the current ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
He added that the visit comes within the framework of the continuing Egyptian efforts to discuss ways to re-engage both the Palestinians and Israelis in the negotiation peace process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 parallel with Eastern Al-Quds as its capital, and restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, based on international legitimacy resolutions.
