Preparations are underway for the fourth session of the Arab Summit for Economic and Social Development to be held in Beirut on January 20, 2019.

The Supreme Committee appointed by Decree No. 3690 dated 2/10/2018 held its first meeting at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, with the attendance of representatives of various ministries and departments concerned with the Summit.

At the beginning of the session, President Michel Aoun attended the meeting and gave his directives to the members of the committee. He underlined "the importance of coordination and cooperation between the representatives of the concerned ministries and departments," stressing that "that success in organization will reflect a success for the summit and for Lebanon."

"This summit ought to be an opportunity to prove Lebanon's presence and role," he said.

After deliberation, participants agreed to establish sub-committees and determine their tasks.

The Higher Committee will hold successive meetings to follow up on the implementation of the plan to organize the summit.
