A security force overthrew a gang that committed the murder of a citizen in Al-Adhaim district in Diyala Governorate. A security source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that a security force, after investigations and review of surveillance cameras, determined the identity and locations of the perpetrators and found that they were a gang of 3 criminals and they were arrested. He added that the defendants confessed during the investigations that they had committed the murder, and their statements were judicially recorded to refer them to the judiciary to receive their just punishment. The Baghdad Operations Command announced the arrest of a wanted person on terrorism charges in one of Karkh areas. The command stated in a statement: 'The terrorist was arrested in a precise ambush within Doura area on Karkh side, with distinguished intelligence efforts and within the security plan for the holy month of Ramadan in identifying and following up on the locations of the defeated terrorist elements.' The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed: 'The financial allocations in the federal budget for the current year 2024 to the Ministries of Defense and Interior are not sufficient for armament, equipment and other requirements.' Military Intelligence overthrew a gang trading in raw cinnabar (mercury) in Saladin Governorate. The Directorate stated in a statement that it was a qualitative operation characterized by accuracy and speed, carried out by military intelligence detachments represented by the Intelligence Department of the Eastern Salah al-Din Operations Command, in coordination with the Tuz Intelligence and Anti-Terrorism Department. This operation came in accordance with accurate intelligence information, and after the gang was lured to the Tuz Khurmato district for the purpose of purchasing raw cinnabar. In exchange for a sum of money worth one million US dollars, it resulted in the arrest of the gang of five individuals who were in their possession of a quantity of the raw material and who were working to sell, buy and promote raw cinnabar (mercury) in various regions of the country.
