At least 30 people killed in floods in Pakistan

At least 30 people were killed in floods caused by heavy rains in Pakistan, which led to extensive damage during the past week. Lahore, Pakistan's second largest city, witnessed rainfall at rates not seen in more than four decades. Floods and landslides accompanied the start of the wind and rain season in Southeast Asia over the past week, resulting in the death of at least 195 people, while about 200 people are still missing in a disaster that occurred in neighboring India. Heavy rains have hit northern Pakistan, causing flooding, collapsing buildings and increasing the risk of lightning strikes. International organizations such as the United Nations consider Pakistan to be among the countries most vulnerable to extreme weather and climate change. Extinguishing a fire that broke out in tanks carrying black oil south of Baghdad

The Civil Defense Directorate announced today, Friday, the extinguishing of a fire that broke out in tanks carrying black oil in a flannel factory south of Baghdad. The Directorate said in a statement that its teams "extinguish a major fire that broke out inside three tanks with a capacity of (120) thousand liters of black oil inside a flannel factory in violation of safety instructions in the Nahrawan area south of Baghdad under the direct leadership of the Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Mohsen Kadhem Alak." It explained that the Civil Defense requested an investigation to be opened at the police station responsible for the geographical area and to summon a forensic expert to determine the causes of the initial outbreak of the fire and to hold accountable the negligent owners of the factory who were negligent in implementing the occupational safety procedures issued by the Civil Defense Directorate despite the Directorate's previous warnings to provide safety procedures. It also stated that two fighters, 375 drones, and 57 missiles were shot down, and 17 tanks, 24 armored vehicles, 57 ammunition depots, and 10 electronic warfare stations were destroyed. Tyre mourns four Syrian nationals killed in Israeli airstrike

The southern Lebanese town of Shamaa on Friday mourned the loss of four Syrian nationals who perished in an Israeli airstrike on their home in Shamaa, Tyre, yesterday afternoon. The victims included a mother and her three children. Two Lebanese residents of the town were also injured in the attack. The funeral procession started from the Lebanese-Italian Hospital in Tyre, with the bodies transported by "Al-Resala Association for Health Ambulance" vehicles. Three persons accused of murder arrested in Baghdad

The Rusafa Police Command announced today, Friday, the arrest of three persons accused of murder in Al-Amin area in Baghdad. The Command said in a statement: "After receiving news of a shooting incident in Al-Amin area in the capital, Baghdad, our detachments immediately headed to the scene of the incident and it was found that one citizen was killed and another was injured, after gunmen opened fire at them and fled." It added: "After collecting information and following up on surveillance cameras, the perpetrators, numbering 3, were reached, and their location was determined in Al-Nahrawan area and a tight ambush was set up that led to their arrest and their detention to complete the legal procedures against them."
