Nass: Bahraini-Saudi collaboration boost for local industry and trade

Manama, Sameer Abdulla Nass, Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), expressed his appreciation to the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their efforts and coordination with Saudi Arabia. He said that the Local Value Programme in Industry (Takamul) would allow Bahraini manufactured goods to be treated as Saudi national goods, enhancing local content preference mechanisms, supporting national industries, and attracting foreign direct investment. Nass highlighted that these decisions will promote sustainable development, increase trade, and enhance the competitiveness of the private sector in both countries. He emphasised the role of the Bahrain-Saudi Coordination Council, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in achieving mutual economic benefits. Alba expands OJT programme to empower Bahraini youth

Manama, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) is reinforcing its commitment to developing Bahraini youth through the expansion of its On-the-Job Training (OJT) programme. Ali Al Baqali, Alba's CEO, emphasised this dedication during a meeting with OJT participants at the Company's Oasis Hall. Since the start of 2024, Alba has provided practical, hands-on experience to 215 students from local and international universities, with a notable 42% female representation. The programme encompasses all company functions, from operations to administration. This summer, Alba witnessed an 86% surge in OJT participants, with 149 students compared to the previous year's 80. Alba has achieved this expansion by establishing strong partnerships with local universities, offering students invaluable industrial exposure and preparing them to become key contributors to Bahrain's economy. DANAT organises comprehensive 5-Day pearls and gemstones training at Youth City

Manama, The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones "DANAT" conducted a five-day training course on pearls and gemstones at the Kooheji Training Hall at Youth City. The event brought together a vibrant young community of pearl, gemstone, and jewellery enthusiasts, and covered theoretical learning and practical exercises on five key topics: pearls, diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. The aim of the course was to educate young participants about Bahrain's rich and ancient pearl industry, the fundamentals of pearls and the main gemstones, as well as essential knowledge for purchasing jewellery. Participants also had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience using advanced tools for studying and analysing gemstones. Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, said that the course aimed at equipping young professionals with the practical skills and experience necessary to enter the pearl and gemstone industry competitively. It offers a comprehensive approach to pearl studies and various gemological sciences, ena bling participants to gain a profound understanding of the field and become acquainted with essential tools and devices. Jamsheer pointed out that this course is integral to the institute's strategic efforts to train, qualify, and enhance the capabilities of Bahraini youth in this crucial industry. It aims to increase awareness of Bahrain's centuries-old pearl heritage and its significant contribution to economic development.
