2025 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships to Launch Tuesday in Riyadh

Riyadh: The 2025 UCI Urban Cycling World Championships start Tuesday in Riyadh, marking the Kingdom's first time as host.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event is organized by the Saudi Cycling Federation and overseen by the Ministry of Sport and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). It will take place at Boulevard Riyadh City and continue through Saturday, November 8, featuring top cycling stars from around the world.

The championship, held under the umbrella of the UCI, features three main categories: BMX Freestyle Park, BMX Freestyle Flatland, and Trials. More than 230 riders from over 40 countries across all continents will compete for the titles in the elite and junior categories.

The first day will begin Tuesday with the Trials Mixed Team competition, showcasing riders' skills in balance, control, and overcoming obstacles. It will be followed by the qualifiers for BMX Freestyle Park and Flatland, featuring world champions who have previously won continental and global titles.

Hosting the championship builds on the Kingdom's successes in staging major international sports events and represents a strategic step to strengthen its presence on the global sports map, including cycling. It reflects the progress achieved in sports infrastructure and organization and supports the attainment of national sports objectives.
