Madinah: Madinah Region is witnessing the implementation of major development projects across various key economic sectors aimed at achieving sustainable growth, improving public services, creating quality job opportunities for citizens, and keeping pace with the growing number of visiting pilgrims and Umrah performers, expected to reach 30 million by 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a report issued by the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry reveals that a total of 224 development projects are currently underway in the region. These include 15 government projects, 10 semi-government projects, and 199 private-sector projects. The projects cover more than 30 million square meters of investment land, reflecting significant urban and investment expansion that enhances infrastructure and boosts the region's appeal as an investment destination. The total value of these projects exceeds SAR200 billion, underscoring their scale and impact on the national economy and regional development.
The report showed that the commercial sector accounts for the largest share of the projects, with 162 ventures representing 80% of the total. This is followed by 20 mixed-use residential and commercial projects, 11 health sector projects, eight residential projects, seven education projects, seven tourism and entertainment projects, five religious projects, four public utilities projects, and two corporate projects.
The ongoing projects are expected to generate 125,722 job opportunities, supporting the state's efforts to reduce unemployment and enhance national workforce participation in economic development. These large-scale initiatives represent a strategic opportunity for the business community in Madinah, driving the region's economic growth, expanding investment activities, and capitalizing on its rapid urban and developmental transformation. Collectively, they are positioning Madinah as an advanced economic hub and an attractive destination for both local and international investments, while improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.
