275 Scientists from 69 Countries Apply for 12th Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water

Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water and Supervisor of the Prince Sultan Institute for Environmental, Water and Desert Research at King Saud University Dr. Abdulmalik Al Alshaikh stated that the total number of applicants for the 12th edition of the prize reached 275 scientists from 69 countries around the world, with the combined value of its five awards amounting to SAR3 million.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al Alshaikh noted that these figures reflect the significant development achieved by the prize and the high-level international reputation it has attained, positioning it among the world's leading awards in its field. Dr. Al Alshaikh explained that the prize aims to recognize the efforts and research of scientists and innovators in the field of water worldwide, honoring outstanding achievements that have contributed to scientific solutions for ensuring access to usable water, reducing water scarcity, and preserving sustainability, particularly in arid regions.

He added that the prize, whose General Secretariat is based at the Prince Sultan Institute for Environmental, Water and Desert Research at King Saud University, represents one of the Kingdom's noble messages to humanity, underscoring the importance of securing water resources for present and future generations, reducing scarcity, mitigating the risk of conflict over water, and developing innovative technological solutions to ensure water availability at the lowest possible cost.

Dr. Al Alshaikh invited scientists and researchers at the local, Arab, and international levels to apply for the 13th edition of the prize by submitting their scientific research to the General Secretariat through the prize's official website at www.psipw.org before the end of December 2027.
