Agricultural Heritage and Scenic Greenery Define Wadi Haliyah

Jakarta:Wadi Haliyah Amidst fertile fields and rustic earthen paths, the area—also known as Wadi Al-Shaqqah Al-Shamiyyah—showcases the rich agricultural landscape and heritage of Al-Lith Governorate in the Makkah Region, reflecting a lasting bond between local farmers and the Tihama Plain.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the valley holds notable agricultural and historical significance, with the ancient site of Al-Sirrain situated near its Red Sea outlet. To the south lies Wadi Allib, also known as Wadi Al-Shaqqah Al-Yamaniyyah, creating a diverse geographical corridor that connects inland wadis, cultivated plains, and coastal shores.

Farms across Wadi Haliyah feature organized agricultural plots interwoven with traditional irrigation canals, shaded footpaths, and native trees. These practices document generational expertise in water distribution, soil stewardship, and crop cultivation, anchoring the area's rural identity and sustaining local food production.

The convergence of historical landmarks with fertile farmland provides strong potential for sustainable agro-tourism. Preserving these agricultural assets, optimizing irrigation efficiency, and supporting local farming communities are vital to protecting the valley's cultural heritage and ensuring environmental sustainability.
