AlUla Palm Trees: Over Four Million Trees Support Agricultural Production and Enrich Date Markets

Alula: Palm oases are among the most prominent agricultural features of AlUla, a governorate known for centuries. The date palm has long been central to the lives of its residents. It provides food and income and shapes the natural landscape of oases surrounded by mountains and rock formations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the governorate's oases include about 4.144 million palm trees covering 16,485 hectares. Annual production reaches about 168.31 tons of dates. The Barni date is among the most notable varieties produced in the governorate, along with several other types.

Palm farms play a key role in local economic activity. Dates are marketed across the Kingdom and exported to international destinations. The quality and diversity of AlUla's dates strengthen their competitiveness in regional and global markets.
