AlUla: The scent of history lingers in the alleyways of AlUla's Old Town, echoing memories of ancestors who grew up within its mud-brick walls.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Mohammed Al-Imam, a local, fondly recalls the town's past. He describes close-knit homes where residents shared a cooperative and cohesive life. "The old town was, and remains, AlUla's beating heart," he says. "We were born and raised here, among palm groves and family gatherings".
Al-Imam recounts bustling markets filled with vendors from various regions, selling traditional products like dates, perfumes, and AlUla's famous handicrafts. He remembers Ramadan evenings when children roamed the streets and families gathered for iftar.
The Royal Commission for AlUla is undertaking projects to rehabilitate the old town, preserving its heritage and enhancing its status as a tourist and cultural destination. The projects include restoring old buildings, improving pathways, and providing modern services for visitors from around the world.
