Riyadh: The Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU) has announced the national teams set to compete in the second edition of the Asian Lacrosse Championship in Riyadh from September 29 to October 06, 2025, marking the first time the Kingdom will host the prestigious regional tournament.
According to Saudi Press Agency, participating countries include host nation Saudi Arabia, as well as China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Singapore.
Saudi Lacrosse Federation President Yazeed Al-Rasheed emphasized that hosting the championship is a major milestone in the Kingdom's efforts to promote and grow the sport both locally and across the region. 'This event reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing lacrosse and showcases the rapid progress the sport has made in Saudi Arabia since the federation's establishment in 2019,' Al-Rasheed stated.
He noted that the federation, under the guidance and support of the Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, has developed a growing base of more than 50 active male and female lacrosse players. It has also forged several partnerships to promote the game and increase its reach across the Kingdom.
He expressed optimism ahead of the championship, stating: 'We hope to see the women's team successfully defend their title and for the men's team to secure their first-ever championship victory.'
