Cairo: The Arab League today honored the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Center for Meteorology (NCM), for its outstanding efforts to enhance Arab awareness of the importance of meteorology and climate. The recognition took place during the 39th meeting of the Arab Permanent Committee for Meteorology, which concluded its two-day session today at the league's General Secretariat in Cairo.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the honor comes in appreciation of the Kingdom's pioneering efforts through the Arab Committee for Meteorological Awareness and Information. Key contributions include preparing the first glossary of meteorological terms in sign language at the Arab level and organizing a specialized media workshop with the participation of several Arab media professionals and journalists. Additionally, logos proposed by the Kingdom for regional meteorological recognition were approved, and a design proposal for the logo of the Council of Arab Ministers Concerned with Meteorology and Climate Affairs was submitted.
The secretariat praised the Kingdom's active role supporting the committee's work and its continuous pursuit of developing awareness and educational tools in the field of meteorology. These contribute to achieving the goals of joint Arab action and enhancing communities' preparedness to face increasing climate challenges.
The Arab League recognition is considered a culmination of the Kingdom's endeavors aimed at strengthening regional cooperation in the fields of weather and climate, achieving the highest standards of inclusivity in disseminating meteorological knowledge to serve the safety of lives and property, and supporting sustainable development plans in Arab countries.
