Arab League Secretary-General Condemns Israel’s Law Authorizing Death Penalty for Palestinian Prisoners

Cairo: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned Israel's passage of a law permitting the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners. He emphasized that the law violates fundamental principles of international humanitarian law and blatantly undermines the foundations of justice.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Aboul Gheit stated that the law perpetuates discrimination against Palestinians and constitutes a form of apartheid. In a statement issued today, he explained that the law is part of a series of policies aimed at marginalizing the Palestinian presence, undermining their rights, and paving the way for the annexation of the West Bank.

He further emphasized that the international community's continued inaction is unacceptable. Aboul Gheit cautioned that these measures risk escalating tensions in the Palestinian territories and across the region.
