Arab Parliament Condemns Colombia’s Recognition of Israeli Sovereignty over Occupied Syrian Golan Heights

The arab parliament strongly condemned colombia's announcement recognizing israeli sovereignty over the occupied syrian golan heights:he Arab Parliament strongly condemned Colombia's announcement recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, stressing that the move violates international law, disregards international legitimacy resolutions, and seeks to legitimize an illegal situation imposed by the occupation through force.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in a statement, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi emphasized the Arab Parliament's firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land and that any unilateral announcement by one country cannot change its legal status or affect the rights of the Syrian Arab Republic over it. He stressed that occupation cannot be used to claim sovereignty or legal rights over land taken by force.

The Arab Parliament urged the Colombian government to reconsider its position and adhere to international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. It also warned of the serious consequences of such positions.

The parliament renewed its full support for the Syrian Arab Republic in restoring its sovereignty over the entirety of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. It noted that United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981 constitutes a clear international legal reference on the status of the Golan Heights and affirms the invalidity of measures taken by the occupying power to impose its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the territory.
