Riyadh:Speaker of the Arab Parliament Saad Al-Otaibi has declared the parliament's complete solidarity with Saudi Arabia, endorsing all actions taken by the kingdom to safeguard its security and assets, as well as to deter threats to its territory. Al-Otaibi emphasized the critical role of Saudi Arabia's security and stability as a foundation for Arab national security during his address at the first meeting of the third session of the Arab Parliament's fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League's headquarters.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Otaibi condemned the terrorist attacks executed by the Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia. These attacks targeted sites of religious significance, airports, civilian areas, and economic facilities, resulting in casualties and injuries. Al-Otaibi characterized these acts as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international and humanitarian laws. He urged the international community to take decisive action to stop the attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.
Al-Otaibi also highlighted the importance of a unified Arab position in response to the rapid changes and challenges faced by the Arab world. He underscored the responsibility of Arab parliaments in shaping the region's future through effective diplomacy, dialogue, and cooperation. Additionally, he reiterated the Arab Parliament's commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights, supporting the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The speaker further condemned a recent terrorist attack on a church in Jordan's Karak Governorate and expressed solidarity with Jordan. He called for an end to the conflict in Sudan, support for Syria and Somalia's sovereignty, and the protection of Lebanon's unity against Israeli aggression. Al-Otaibi also voiced support for Libya and Yemen's sovereignty and efforts to improve their stability.
Al-Otaibi concluded by stressing the need for the Arab Parliament to focus on achieving measurable impacts and results, adapting to changing circumstances, and enhancing economic and developmental initiatives in line with contemporary demands.
