Astragalus Spinosus Blooms Transform Rafha’s Landscape

Rafha: The Astragalus spinosus tree has flourished across the valleys and deserts west of Rafha Governorate in Northern Borders Region, blanketing the landscape with its spherical white and yellow flowers. Resembling natural lanterns, these blooms mark the presence of one of the Arabian Peninsula's most resilient and long-lived wild trees.

According to Saudi Press Agency, known for its remarkable ability to adapt to harsh desert climates, this evergreen species holds significant environmental and economic value. Beyond its role in the ecosystem, the tree is a primary food source for bees during its peak flowering periods in late summer and spring, making it a vital asset for the region's beekeeping and honey production industries.
