Bahrain’s outstanding family and children protection experience highlighted

Manama, Awareness remains the best preventative way, especially when building a child's personality and enhancing his ability to deal with the dangers they may be exposed to on the Internet. This was the primary motive for launching the national awareness campaign to protect children from exploitation and electronic blackmail. The awareness is part of a partnership between the Ministry of Interior, the Public Prosecution, and the relevant authorities to ensure that Bahraini children remain within the 'Safe Internet' system. It is necessary to highlight that blackmailing and exploiting children electronically has never been a "phenomenon" in Bahrain. However, the matter requires focusing on the concept of protecting children from electronic exploitation and blackmail, which, according to Major Dr Abdullah Nasser Al-Buflasa, Head of the Legal Awareness Team at the Ministry of Interior's Legal Affairs Directorate, said controlling the child victim and exploiting his weakness to achieve sexual, financial or soci al goals through technical systems." In this context, the Ministry of Interior has adopted its security strategy based on proactiveness in combating crime and achieving comprehensive security by keeping pace with the latest technological means and systems. In this regard, the Ministry of Interior has established the Child Cyberspace Protection Unit and the Family and Child Protection Offices in the police directorates to create a safe environment for society's growth and development by activating the role of community partnership, as society's security is everyone's responsibility. Al Buflasa said that Bahrain's joining agreements related to child protection and the endorsement of national laws and legislation contributed to reducing the rates of crimes against children and that Bahrain has a unique experience in family and child protection and enjoys advanced systems and laws, inspired by the vision and thought of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
