BTEA, Connect China Forum organise specialized workshop

Manama, The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), in cooperation with the Connect China Forum, has organised a specialised workshop, with the participation of 35 travel agents from the People's Republic of China. The initiative aimed at enhancing tourism cooperation between the two countries and to showcase Bahrain's diverse tourist attractions, thereby encouraging greater visitation from Chinese tourists. The workshop covered a range of topics, including targeted marketing strategies for the Chinese market via tourism offices and destination management companies. Chinese travel agents also presented tailored tourism packages specifically designed for Chinese tourists wishing to visit Bahrain. The workshop highlighted the efforts undertaken by the Authority to fortify Bahrain's position as a desirable tourist destination in the promising Chinese market, facilitated through effective collaboration with the Connect China Forum and the consolidation of partnerships with various stakeholders withi n the travel and tourism sector. Maryam Toorani, Director of tourism marketing and promotion at the BTEA, emphasised that the workshop represents a vital step in strengthening the Kingdom's status as the preferred destination for visitors from China. She underscored that the authority is committed to deepening its understanding of the Chinese market's requirements through strategic marketing campaigns, partnerships and the development of customised travel experiences aligned with the expectations of Chinese visitors. Toorani also noted to the recently launched initiatives aimed at attracting more Chinese tourists, which contribute to the objectives of the Tourism Strategy 2022-2026, with the People's Republic of China identified as one of the primary target markets. She noted that some of the noteworthy initiatives include the participation in a specialised tourism exhibition in China last May, the creation of promotional materials in the Chinese language, launching a website showcasing Bahrain's tourist a ttractions, and introducing an e-learning programme focused on Chinese tourism. The authority aims to conduct lectures and workshops to equip the private sector in catering to Chinese tourists while preparing to launch direct marketing campaigns for the Chinese market, Toorani added. BTEA remains dedicated to implementing its initiatives aimed at enhancing Bahrain's profile as a distinctive tourist destination, building strategic partnerships with the private sector, and focusing on the development of tourism infrastructure as well as diversifying the tourism product to create exceptional experiences for all visitors.
