Riyadh: The Communications, Space, and Technology Commission (CST) has issued the "Earth Observation (EO) Platform Regulations" and the document "Application for Obtaining a Permit to Provide Earth Observation (EO) Platform Service." These regulations aim to create an appropriate environment for enabling the private sector to establish and develop Earth Observation (EO) services markets and emerging businesses, thereby stimulating their contribution to raising the Kingdom's gross domestic product (GDP) through the development of value-added products. CST stated that through the issuance of these documents, it aims to grant the first permit in the Space sector in the Kingdom to an entity responsible for establishing and operating an electronic platform. This platform will collect and process Earth Observation (EO) data and serve as a market and digital enabler, collecting and processing data received from satellites, such as images for monitoring Earth's natural phenomena, environmental pollution, and weather . Additionally, the aim is to establish links between Earth Observation (EO) data providers and value-added service providers who aim to develop and process data into value-added programs and products. CST further clarified the requirements for applicants who wish to obtain the permit through the document "Application for Obtaining a Permit to Provide Earth Observation (EO) Platform Service." The document outlines relevant obligations to ensure user rights, data trading safety, and preservation. CST urges those interested in providing Earth Observation (EO) platform services to review the documents and submit an application for the permit.
