Dakar Rally: Yasir Seaidan Takes Challenger Lead, Nasser Al-Attiyah Drops to 10th

Dakar: Tuesday marked the third stage of the Dakar Rally Saudi Arabia 2026, organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, running until January 17. During this stage, competitors tackled a challenging 736 km route, including 421 km of timed special stage. According to Saudi Press Agency, American Mitch Guthrie, competing for Ford Racing, emerged victorious in the car category, completing the stage in four hours, four minutes, and 32 seconds. He was closely followed by Czech driver Martin Prokop of Orlen Jipocar Team, trailing by two minutes and 27 seconds. South African Guy Botterill of Toyota Gazoo Racing finished third, five minutes and 23 seconds behind the leader. In the overall car category standings, Guthrie secured the top position with a cumulative time of 11 hours, 27 minutes, and 20 seconds. Prokop placed second, just 26 seconds behind, while Swedish driver Mattias Ekström of Ford Racing trailed by one minute and eight seconds. Q atari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah experienced a setback, dropping to tenth place, 11 minutes and 39 seconds off the leader's pace. In the Challenger class, Dutch driver Puck Klaassen of KTM X-BOW powered by G Rally Team claimed victory with a time of four hours, 28 minutes, and 25 seconds. Saudi driver Yasir Seaidan of Nasser Racing Team finished second, eight minutes and 25 seconds behind, taking the overall lead. Spaniard Pau Navarro of Odyssey Academy by BBR secured third place, 11 minutes and 18 seconds after the leader.
