Riyadh: Secretary General of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies Princess Maha bint Mohammed bin Faisal received a delegation from the Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML) at the Center's headquarters in Riyadh. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of manuscript preservation, digital documentation, and specialized education. The meeting was attended by HMML Executive Director Dr. Columba Stewart and several officials.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, participants reviewed the history and expertise of HMML, founded in 1964 and recognized as one of the world's leading institutions in manuscript documentation. Over the past decades, the library has digitized more than 450,000 manuscripts in various languages across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. It also provides secure digital access to these materials for researchers worldwide.
The HMML delegation expressed appreciation for the King Faisal Center's role in preserving Arab and Islamic cultural heritage using rigorous scientific methodologies. They expressed readiness to collaborate by providing mobile digitization studios, training Saudi professionals in digital preservation techniques, and offering educational platforms to support research and fieldwork in the Kingdom.
The visit reflects the Center's ongoing commitment to cooperating with global institutions dedicated to protecting Islamic cultural heritage. It affirms the Kingdom's leadership in safeguarding the cultural memory of the Islamic world.
