Diriyah Revives Hospitality Heritage for Hajj Pilgrims through Community Initiatives

Diriyah: The Diriyah Gate Development Authority has concluded a comprehensive package of community and cultural initiatives for the Hajj season and Eid Al-Adha, reflecting Diriyah's long-standing historical role since the era of the First Saudi State in serving pilgrims and welcoming the pilgrims.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the initiatives form part of the authority's ongoing efforts to strengthen Diriyah's cultural and social identity while reviving the historical heritage associated with serving pilgrims through programs that combine authentic traditions with modern community experiences. These efforts further reinforce Diriyah's position as a cultural and humanitarian destination deeply connected to the Kingdom's rich history.

The initiative package includes the participation of the 'Hajj Scouts' initiative for the fourth consecutive year in Makkah, where a group of young men and women from the Diriyah community is providing support and assistance to pilgrims in the holy sites through guidance, organization, and field assistance. The initiative reflects the historical and social values for which Diriyah has long been recognized in serving pilgrims across different eras.

As part of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, mosques across Diriyah welcomed worshipers from the early hours of Eid morning, with activities centered around greeting attendees and exchanging Eid wishes following the Eid prayer. The atmosphere reflected authentic Saudi customs and traditions, helping spread joy and strengthen social bonds among residents and visitors.

Al-Bujairi District also hosted a series of outdoor activations and interactive experiences combining cultural activities with festive Eid celebrations through programs designed for families and visitors. The events aimed to enrich the local community experience while showcasing Diriyah's distinctive cultural and heritage character.

In addition, Samhan District hosted the 'Pilgrims Hospitality' initiative, which targets families and the local community by reviving Diriyah's historical traditions of welcoming pilgrims and celebrating their return after completing Hajj rituals. The initiative allows visitors to participate in a communal hospitality table, contribute their own dishes and offerings, and exchange Eid greetings in a social atmosphere that embodies the values of generosity and human connection.

The authority affirmed that these initiatives reflect its commitment to preserving Diriyah's cultural and social heritage by reviving the historical values and traditions associated with serving pilgrims. The initiatives also aim to strengthen younger generations' connection to their cultural roots and support efforts to position Diriyah as a cultural destination that reflects the authenticity of Saudi identity and its rich history.
