Riyadh: Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is dedicated to addressing global food security challenges through flexible planning and the optimal use of available resources. He noted that these efforts aim to facilitate effective humanitarian interventions that save lives, strengthen the resilience of affected communities, and restore hope for a safer and more stable future-especially in this period marked by food crises, supply chain disruptions, and financial and administrative constraints that have severely impacted the global food system.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al Rabeeah stated that, in response to these challenges, the Kingdom has signed agreements with various international and local organizations and launched multiple initiatives to enhance global food security. "These efforts also aim to strengthen Saudi Arabia's humanitarian contributions in global food production and direct national food products toward relief operations-reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to humanitarian work and to promoting its national industries," he said.
Among these initiatives, he highlighted the distribution of dates donated by the Kingdom through KSrelief to countries facing food insecurity. To date, KSrelief has delivered 25,000 tons of dates to 73 countries under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' gift program, and 40,000 tons to 24 countries in cooperation with the World Food Programme.
He further noted that preparations are underway to deliver 13,500 tons of dates to 65 countries in 2025. In addition, Dr. Al Rabeeah reported that KSrelief has distributed 14 million food baskets, benefiting 77.5 million individuals in 20 countries. Of these, 12 million baskets were sourced within Saudi Arabia and sent abroad-reinforcing the global value of Saudi agricultural products.
