Jubail: Governor of Eastern Region Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz today launched the response 18 tactical exercise to combat marine oil pollution in Jubail Governorate. Prince Saud emphasized that the leadership's support for environmental efforts reflects a commitment to protecting the marine environment and preserving natural resources. He noted that these drills demonstrate coordination among entities and establish readiness to address marine pollution incidents, contributing to the National Environment Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030 goals for sustainability.
According to Saudi Press Agency, CEO of the National Center for Environmental Compliance (NCEC) Eng. Ali Al-Ghamdi presented the drill scenario, which implements the national plan for combating marine oil pollution. It simulates an accident involving a tanker or commercial vessel that could lead to an oil or hazardous substance leak.
Al-Ghamdi stated that the exercise, conducted from Jubail Commercial Port under NCEC supervision, involves over 46 entities from the government and private sectors. The drill aims to enhance preparedness among authorities for managing marine oil spills and to coordinate field responses in line with the national plan.
