Eid Cookies Bring Festive Spirit to Egyptian Homes Ahead of Eid Al-Fitr

Riyadh: As the holy month of Ramadan draws to a close, the aroma of Eid cookies spreads through Egyptian homes and neighborhoods, signaling the start of a cherished tradition tied to preparations for Eid Al-Fitr. Eid cookies represent one of the most cherished traditions associated with Eid Al-Fitr in Egypt. Many families prepare them at home, turning the process into a shared family activity in which children eagerly take part, creating warm memories that remain with them for years.

According to Saudi Press Agency, traditional bakeries also play an important role in maintaining this custom, particularly in many popular neighborhoods where they continue to support families in baking the cookies. The custom of preparing festive sweets for eid is not unique to Egypt. Across the Arab and Muslim world, many countries have their own traditional eid desserts, such as maamoul in the Levant and varieties of Eid cookies in parts of the Maghreb.

While these sweets vary in ingredients and shapes, they all share a strong cultural association with eid and the family traditions that accompany the celebration.
